How to reach Messe Erfurt

Erfurt, the state capital of Thuringia, lies in the heart of Germany and avails of an ideal infrastructure.

A total of 3,500 parking lots ensure a comfortable arrival by own car.

The airport is nearby, the ICE railway station is in the city centre, trams stop at the Exhibition Grounds and there is a direct link to the motorway network - offering the very best conditions for visitors, exhibitors and participants travelling to Messe Erfurt GmbH.

Reaching Erfurt by rail is much more comfortable now due to the new ICE hub:

Travelling by car

Parking lots

From the North:
From Berlin / Leipzig along the A 9 motorway as far as "Hermsdorfer Kreuz", then along the A 4 motorway in the direction of Frankfurt as far as "Autobahnkreuz Erfurt" (follow signs for "Messe"), continue along the A 71 motorway in the direction of Erfurt.

From Hamburg / Hanover / Kassel along the A 7 motorway as far as "Kirchheimer Dreieck", then along the A 4 motorway in the direction of Dresden as far as "Autobahnkreuz Erfurt" (follow signs for "Messe"), continue along the A 71 motorway in the direction of Erfurt.

From the West:
From Frankfurt/M. (A 5), Ruhrgebiet (A 44) along the A 7 motorway as far as "Kirchheimer Dreieck", then along the A 4 motorway in the direction of Dresden as far as "Autobahnkreuz Erfurt" (follow signs for "Messe"), continue along the A 71 motorway in the direction of Erfurt.

From the South:
From Munich / Nuremberg along the A 73 motorway as far as Bamberg, then along the B4 in the direction of Coburg, Eisfeld, Suhl; take the A 71 motorway in Suhl in the direction of Erfurt follow signs for "Messe".

From Stuttgart / Würzburg along the A 7 motorway as far as "Dreieck Schweinfurt", then along the A 70 motorway as far as "Autobahndreieck Werntal"; take the A 71 motorway in the direction of Erfurt, continue along the A 71 motorway in the direction of Erfurt (follow signs for "Messe").

From the East:
From Dresden/Chemnitz along the A 4 motorway in the direction of Frankfurt as far as "Autobahnkreuz Erfurt" (follow signs for "Messe"), continue along the A 71 motorway in the direction of Erfurt.

ICE railway station in the city centre

Erfurt central railway station is part of the ICE network of German Railways.
 
There are long-distance links to Frankfurt/M, Leipzig, Dresden, Halle, Berlin, Kassel, Fulda and Saarbrücken every one hour.
 
Regional links to surrounding towns and cities such as Nordhausen, Northeim, Saalfeld, Glauchau/Zwickau, Gera, Jena, Mühlhausen and Göttingen. Trains depart for Eisenach, Arnstadt, Sangerhausen, Ilmenau, Gotha and Weimar every half hour.

For public transport from the central railway station use tram line 3, 5 or 6 heading to Anger and then switch to tram line 2 heading to P+R Messe.  PLEASE READ THE CURRENT NOTE!

International travel

The Erfurt-Weimar Airport is located in direct proximity to Messe Erfurt. Only one transfer from tram line 4 to 2 at the stop "Gothaer Platz" makes travelling to Messe Erfurt quite easy. The Leipzig-Halle Airport - can be reached after the completion of ICE hub Erfurt from December 2015 - in only 28 ICE minutes. The Frankfurt Airport is only 130 ICE minutes away.

For public transport from the central railway station use tram line 3, 5 or 6 heading to Anger and then switch to tram line 2 heading to P+R Messe. PLEASE READ THE CURRENT NOTE!

CURRENT NOTE

Due to construction work within the city center of Erfurt there is a different connection from the central railway station to the trade fair center. From 9 April 2018 to 9 September 2018 you can reach Messe Erfurt in 25 minutes:

  • tram line 1, 3 or 5 until "Anger"
  • change to tram line 4 direction "Bindersleben" until "S-Finanzzentrum"
  • change at "S-Finanzzentrum" to tram line 2 direction "P+R Platz Messe"

During big events you can also use tram line 7 with which you have a direct Connection between "Anger" and "Messe". Please check the driving times in advance.
